Brought To You By The Letter A

Is it possible for one be yo yoed to death?  Let's hope not.

Here's another letter I made for my great niece.
Believe it or not, these are sort of challenging for me to make.
Not the yo yos but the trying to decide where to put them to make them "fit".  I spend days doing it and I was still not satisfied with this one.  It seems middle heavy.  For this reason, I don't think I'll be making any of these to sell.
Yes, it's true, I like to get paid to PLAY so I will stick to rag ball garlands and yo yo scarecrows.

I hope you've all had a good summer.  It's been a tough one for me but I'm always determined to find those silver linings!

Fall Yo Yos

Can I interest you in fall?

The ones with buttons are ready for a wreath but some will be for scarecrows.

Red, green, yellow, orange, brown and gold with some blue for sky thrown in!

It's already feeling like fall here today and I'm glad!

Porch Frame and Thrift Finds

Hello blog friendies!  Idaho finally cooled down and we had some rain.
I feel like a new woman!  I took a big piece from my garage sale cutter quilt and popped it in a hoop. I know it's not even but there were big knotty lumps of batting to contend with. This will hang on the porch until fall.
Look at this cute button frame I bought at the Salvation Army!  I've thought of doing this very thing but now I won't have, too.
It came with glass but I removed it for the pic.

Here's a few more vintagey SA finds.  I buy $10.00 worth at a time so I can get a punch on my card.  Once the card is full, you get a $20.00 shopping spree!
I bought this huge Samsonite case at a garage sale for $5.00.
Even though it's big, it's not heavy- yet.
☺
This will store all my blue fabrics.

I've been busy filling rag ball garland orders and making yo yos for more scarecrows.  I also finished up 2 more yo yo letters for a great niece and nephew.  It's nice to stay busy and have hobbies I enjoy.

Hope you're all happy and enjoying the rest of summer!

Yo Yo Screcrow

Hello blog friendies!  How are you?
I'm working on perfecting my yo yo scarecrows since
I have some interested buyers.
Isn't he adorable?
These scarecrows will be for decorative purposes only but I still want them to be sturdy and not fall apart.
His middle is a wooden dowel rod and he has a wooden bottom so he can sit on his own but his limbs are made of wire so he can pose!

I've finally been able to do a little thrifting but I'll show my finds in another post.

We've had a hot, dry summer here in Idaho and I'm looking forward to cooler temps in a few days!

Thanks for coming by!  You are precious to me!

Just Yo Yoing Around

I decorated this letter L for my great nephew- Mom's color choices.
And now I'm making a letter A for my great niece with these happy colors AND I'm making one for another grand nephew!!  These are a hit!

I'm also working on rag ball garland orders AND making fall colored yo yos for a wreath come October.  I've been a busy crafter!
Pssst!  The cottage is a wreck!

Thanks you for all the comments on my rag ball garland post.  see post below if you missed it.
Hope you're having a happy summer!

Do You Wanna Buy A Garland?

Do You Wanna Buy A Garland?
(Title sung to the tune of Do You Wanna Build A Snowman.)

Once upon a time, women saved their fabric scraps for quilt piecing and rag rugs.
Since scraps needed to be organised, some were wrapped into balls until used.
With these resourceful women in mind, I created mini rag ball garlands!
Mini rag balls are made from small styrofoam balls and covered in vintage, upcycled or new fabric- depending on my inventory at the time.
Not forgetting the memory of Grandma's button jar, I also add sweet buttons to my garlands!
Strung on yarn, garlands are 4 feet long with the buttons and balls  spaced tightly.
With extra yarn left at each end, buttons and balls can be spaced if a longer garland is wanted.
Happily custom made by me, Holly, at Cutie Pie Cottage, your mini rag ball garland will be perfect with *your* choice of colors!
Little girls love these garlands so they make a perfect gift for them, too. (For decorative
 purposes only.)
Available for just $20.00 which includes shipping, mini rag ball garlands are the perfect touch of creative, crafty cute!
I do not have a Paypal at this time so payment must be made by check, money order or cash.
(Would anyone like to help me set up a paypal?)
If you would like to buy a mini rag ball garland, please send me an email through the address provided in my profile here on blogger.  (Click on profile located in my blog sidebar.)
You can also send me a private message through my  Cutie Pie Cottage facebook page.  Please join me there if you haven't already!

If you already own one of my garlands and love it, please leave a comment here so other people will know how much more adorable they are in person!
Thank you so much!

Humpty Takes A Family!

I already had Mr. Humpty in the middle but found his new wife and stepson at the thrifts!  I was amazed!  I've never found Irmi at the thrifts before!

It is reported that Mrs. Humpty's first husband had a great fall.

Not sure what's up with this highlighting!

Patriotic Dots!

I've been wanting to dotty up this travel case for years and I finally did it!
So quick and easy and it makes me smile!
Shelley gave me this adorable yo yo clown doll a while ago and I thought the case and doll should be together!
One of my earliest memories is playing with a yo yo clown.  I gave him a bath and sprayed him well with Scotch Gard before putting him on the porch.
He kind of has a hard time sitting up.    He's not scary- is he?
The case and doll are on the porch for now- helping me feel proud to be an American.

*Prayer request*
Friends, my hubs and I have been going through some very deep and troubled waters with our boys.
Some days, I feel as though my heart is broke in two.
I don't want to put any details out here in public but you can e mail or facebook message me if you'd like.
In the meantime, please lift us up to the Lord and send me a cyber hug!
Thank you!

Framed Wreath

Ta-da!  I tried adding a bow/other embellishments to the wreath but they seemed to take away from the yo yos so I just left it plain.  I gave it several thin coats of Scotchgard before hanging.  I wish I had thought of that with my porch yo yo table mat!
I took a bunch of porch pics on a partly sunny day to eliminate shadows but they turned out a bit muddy looking.  Oh well.  I'll keep trying.
See my new bush on the porch?
It's an Endless Summer Hydrangea!  (My mother's day present!)
I will plant it somewhere in the front of the porch.

Patriotic Yo Yo Wreath!

Hello blog friendies!  I'm tellin' ya, I've gone yo yo crazy!

I've been making red, white and blue yo yos for months in order to make this wreath!
I wanted it up by Memorial day but I didn't quite make it.
It's still not hanging on the porch because I want to spray it with Scotch Guard first and I don't have any.
I'll show it again when it's in the frame on the porch!

Fun With Dining Rooms!

Hee-hee!  Do you like my title?
Get ready for a lot of pics!
I now have all my poppies and wheat pieces in one place!
My hoop wall was taken down because of my crazy cat and an old window put in its place.  Is the curtain too small?
I hung my Oh Happy Day hoop from Cottage Industry up above the window and hopefully it won't tempt the cat!
We shampooed the carpets the other day and that put me in a decorating/rearranging mood!  Does that happen to you, too?

See that shelf way up there?  NOT easy to get to!
You should have seen me.
I also rearranged the top part of the hutch.  I wanted my dots and Jadeite to be together.
And last but not least- the whole dining room!
All fresh with Lilacs and redecorated!
Just don't look at the kitchen or any other part of the house!
I hope you enjoyed your tour.

Canisters As Planters

Hello there dear blog readers!
I took my orphaned tin canisters down from the kitchen cabinets and assigned them to the porch!
  Cute huh?
They are on the front steps now but photographed better here on the porch table.
These canisters have been shared 17 times on facebook already!
So fun!
My boys took me hiking for Mother's day!
It was just a 2 1/4 mile hike to Elk River lower falls but I LOVED it!
It was my first hike since developing Achilles Tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis AND Arthritis!
I had to bring a ski pole along but I DID IT!
Oh what I wouldn't give to have JUST lower back problems again!

If you haven't hit 50 yet- ENJOY!
