Cinder Blocks Set Up

I finally finished my cinder blocks and my hubs set them up in my booth!  I love the way they turned out and we've received many compliments.

My booth is in Moscow Idaho at the Main Street Antique Mall- Sorry- no shipping.

We stacked the blocks 4 high.  I glued gingham ball trim along the edge of the top 2 shelves and it's so cute!

The top 2 shelves are vintage counter tops that my hubs cut in half.

The bottom 2 shelves and just ply wood wrapped in white embossed wall paper.  For a tutorial for the blocks see my last post!

Cinder Block Project

Hello out there!  Remember me?  Even if you're new, I hope you like my project!  I wanted to make shelves for my vintage booth out of these vintage style/flower cinder blocks so I gave them the paper napkin treatment!  (Napkins were found at Joann fabric and crafts)

#1 Brush off loose concrete.  #2 Apply coat of Gesso and let dry.  #3 Apply coat of Modge Podge and quickly put napkin on top (Napkin should be peeled down to one layer.)  #4 Gently smooth napkin.  #5 After a few seconds, poke hole in each hollow section.

Tips:  I kept dipping my fingers in water when lightly pressing and smoothing the napkin.  Too wet and it will tear- not wet enough and your fingers will stick and tear the napkin.  It won't matter a whole lot if your block and napkin back ground are both white.  I used my fingers and then a tooth brush on all the edges to really get the napkin clinging everywhere- eventually causing all the excess napkin to break away from the holes and edges.  Since these will be indoors, I don't plan on sealing them.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments and I will answer there!

Loving My Booth!

I've had a booth for 2 months now and I just love it!
Sales slowed down when school let out but hopefully vacationers will be new shoppers!

This dish drainer sold right away so I had to hurry and get a different one down there!  
I love selling vintage memories.
☺  

I've upcycled and made a few items to add to the booth.
They haven't sold but that's okay because they make my booth look pretty and cute. I hope you're having a great summer!

Hello blog friendies!
I still haven't filled my booth all the way cuz stuff is flying off the shelves!
I kind of wish I could have blocked it off till it was full and then had a big reveal but oh well!  

I love "fluffing" my booth!
The timing is so right for me on this.
I believe in chasing your dreams but I also believe in perfect timing.

One of my fears in showing you pics is that you'll see something you gave me!

There was a day when I thought I'd remember where all my treasures came from but honestly, there are some things that I have *NO* memory acquiring!  So if you see something you gave me, just know I appreciated it at the time.

Moving Day One

I started moving into my new booth space yesterday!  It looks so much better in person. It's going to take practice to get the lighting right in my pics.  I had so much fun!  It was "smalls and walls" day.  Remember I said it's just half a booth?  Below is a "before" pic which includes the previous vendor's stuff and my neighbor's half.

Quite the contrast- right?

I'll be bringing in more merch in the following days and decorating more so stay tuned!  

Movin' On Up!

My little space at the antique mall has done so well!  I've already made a good profit and the month isn't even over!  My back is also doing so well that I'm very encouraged-

 SO encouraged that I'm moving up to a bigger space!  I'm so excited that I hardly slept last night!

I had planned for a booth for years but then gave up because of my health issues so this is like a resurrection dream come true.

Instead of a large bookcase, I'll have a 10x5 FT space with one very high wall.  It's sort of half a booth.☺
I can start moving in close to the end of the month.
It might not be quite full at first but I'll get it that way and I want it to be very colorful and cute!

Fear of rejection has been my life long "curse" so this is a HUGE step for me!

Yo Yo Rag Garlands!

 I'm making garlands with teeny yo yos and rag strips tied between!  Isn't this one cute?  I made one for my booth but made one to sell online, too.  If this one sells, I'll string up another!  This one is done up in primary colors with mostly vintage fabrics and is 5 FT long.  I plan on making some with larger yo yos also.

If you missed my last post, I'm a dealer at my antique mall now!

It took me a while to accept the fact that my back won't let me handle/sell large items but now I'm completely content with my medium and smalls!

I love my little space- it's right by the side emergency exit door so I can park there and haul my items right in!

I hung items on the side of my case in hopes of catching the eye of passers by.

I hope to add more special touches in the coming days.
I'm just getting over a cold and sinus infection so I was limited in what I could do.
Did you hear I made a sale my first hours of being open.  Yay!
This is my first time to "work" outside the home since the 90s so it's a big step for me but a FUN step!
