Images Of My Pink Christmas

A Pink, frosty tree topper (?) from Micah. A sugar kissed vignette in my Sweet Retreat.

And presents from blog friendies like Kim from Shabby Pink and Pretty! Thanks again Kim!

Oh! I had so much fun surfing the net and crafting in my Sweet Retreat yesterday! Maybe it will even bring me out of my post Christmas coma! Who are the rest of you faring? Have you recovered yet?
We went to my son's house for his birthday last night. We drove the 45 minutes home in a snowstorm and I didn't get to bed until midnight- then the power started blinking out at 5:00 this morning AND I awoke with a bad headache! Looks like today might be "one of those" days! Thankfully, the coffee pot had time to perk before the power went out completely and hey, at least I have Internet and lap top with a battery!
Hope your day is starting out brighter than mine but if it's not, just roll with the punches and punch back if ya can!

I Have Internet! (and other fun stuff)

Oh happy day! Shout it from the roof tops!!!! Holly has Internet on the farm! It is super slow but I'm connected! Yippee! Celebrate with me!

This is my vintage cake carrier that came from our new antique store in town. I hope to eventually FILL my happy shelves above my sink with red and yellow vintage wares.
It took five minutes a piece to load these pics! Ha-ha! Waiting for my blog and your blogs to load takes some time too but at least I can do it from home! this is a temporary solution until a faster speed Internet reaches the farm in the Spring. (I feel like such a pioneer!)
Okay, now let's see how long it takes to publish this post!

A Touch Of Romance

Do you like my window-less window? It's my way of covering up ugly walls while adding a touch of romance.
Just an old lace panel, nailed up on the wall...

and embellished with bling and a flower holder.

While most of my decor is classified as "cute"- I like a bit of romance, too!
More pictures of my sweet retreat in the days to come!

Finally- A Trip To Sally Annes!

The antique mall is great but I *really* love getting vintage goodies at the thrift shop! In this case the thrift shop was our local Salvation Army, more affectionately referred to as Sally Annes! (These cherry coasters are newer but I thought they'd make a cute opening photo!) ☺ I spent $3.50 to add to my Pflaltzgraff collection. Not too bad, eh? I already have this sugar bowl but $1.50? I couldn't pass it up!

And I thought I'd add to my collection of "I don't necessarily love this but it's vintage for just pennies so I'll get it" collection. It says Homer Laughlin on the back.
Some of my Christmas presents this year came from our new local (right here in town!) antique shop! I can't wait to show you! I'm so thrilled about this little shop! I was super shy to go in for the first time but now you won't be able to keep me away!
Hope you all survived Christmas! ☺ More than anything, I wanted the Internet for Christmas but I still don't have it. What a drama! I won't even try and explain it to you!

Kitchy Christmas!

Kitchy Christmas to all my bloggy friends! I picked up this piece at Sally Anne's for FREE! :) Fun stuff!

Peace to all of you and please- no guilt!

A Sugar Kissed Christmas!

If you haven't been by to see what all Twyla and Lindsey have been posting about a Sugar Kissed Christmas, then you're missing out! Get on over there, girls! It's fun!
Those Two Crazy Crafters have taught me so much and added so much to my life!! I love you, girls!
(I can't believe I was able to link! It's so much harder to do on my laptop!)

Making Do With Whatever Is On Hand

No lamp shade available? No problem! Having loads of fun putting together a new sweet retreat! Of course this little arrangement has been re-done several times already! Not the hat, though. The hat stays!
More pics in the days to come!

A Trip To The Antique Mall

The only kind of mall that I like, is the antique mall! I went the other day for the first time since moving to the farm. It was so much fun! I showed great restraint by only buying a kitty card...
and two ornaments!

It doesn't take much to make this girl happy!
Guess what girls? No, I don't have Internet access yet but I AM setting up my craft room! I can't wait to show you!
I hope you're all having as much fun as I am this week!

Window Dressing

I don't know why I can't just leave a curtain be.

I have to dress it with something! It might be all soft, cottagey and shabby...
Or it might be just plain cute!

but window dress, I must!
I love to play house!
The last few days, I've been playing, "Let's create a craft room"! I'm so excited!
I hope you're all taking time to play and that you're enjoying life!

Kitchen Archeology

Look at the old wall paper that I uncovered in my kitchen! It's hiding behind the fridge. I had to stick my camera back there and just shoot-thus the weird angle! I thought it was really fun to find and it was like getting to visit with the farm woman who once lived there. Anyone want to take a guess at what era this wall paper might be from?

Holly Gets Her glitter On!

I've finally used glitter in a card! You like? I love! I think I originally got this image from Twyla and Lindsey last year? Go ahead and laugh but it took me hours to make this card. I had to learn how to use my printer all over again. :) I love the rose paper in the background and guess what? it was made by ME! I scanned my favorite fabric and then just printed it out! Fun! Here's our "baby" moose getting too close for comfort and too big to be called a baby! He was looking IN the living room window but by the time I raised the camera and shot, he had turned! Yikes!
Today is my Bobby's birthday and the whole family is going out to eat to celebrate!
I hope you're all enjoying your week!

Come On- Get Happy!

Greetings to you from my happy shelves above my kitchen sink! (And I'm happy that I made it down our snowy drive way today!)
For someone who wasn't going to decorate much for Christmas this year, I sure have been having fun! I have things on these shelves from the last year that were given to me from Noelle at Lil Bits and Pieces Of Me and from Jackie at Once Upon A Fairytale. Thanks girls! (Please forgive me lack of linking! My computer time is so limited and blogging takes more time than usual on my laptop!)

Like my shelf edge trim? I made it with my lace punch that I won from Keren at
Free Pretty Things For You. Thanks again Keren! I didn't have enough of the same paper to do both shelves but I think it still works. (It sorta has too!)
Love to you all!

The Stocking Was Hung From The Hutch with Care!

And bottle brush trees added here and there!
Fun, huh? ☺

Oh I love my yumy stocking from Marrion Berry Cottage!
Love you girls, too! Hope you're not tiring of my hutch! ♥
The rest of my house has the traditional red treatment but my dinning room is all cottagey!
My beloved husband of 30 years has been bringing me to town to use the Internet! Isn't he a doll?

Yummy Stuff!

I've been snowed in, girls! But that hasn't stopped me from having fun (in between feeling sorry for myself!) I did a quick and easy knob project the other night. This is the after. Up close you can tell they are decals but not from a distance.

Whole built in. I love it!
and here's the before. Not quite my style! I hope to re do all the hardware eventually.

AND THIS was what my poor dinning room window used to look like! Some beloved large dog must have liked it very much! I wanted to at least paint over it until it is replaced by the landlord but I didn't know if I could match the color! I decided to patch it up a bit first with some wood filler...

and look! The wood filler matches! It works for me AND Kitty Anne!

I sure do miss blogging! I'm starting to beg for dial up! Whoda ever thought?

A Dream Come True

Looky here girlfriends!

My very own crystal knob! Only problem is, it's upstairs on the spare room door and I don't venture up there very often. What do you think? Should I remove it and display it downstairs or just leave it be?

A Birthday Lamp

My boy Caleb brought me this Pink lamp the other day for a belated Birthday present. He got it from a lady he was working for. She was going to list it on eBay but Caleb rescued it for me! He knew I'd love it! I had a hard time getting a good pic of it! I'll try again once I get a shade for it!

This will go in my craft room/bedroom. BTW, I'm not making much head way in that department! Good things come to those who wait!

Greetings From My Johnies!

And see my Aspens in the background, girls?! I love them! And I love Johnies. I'm so glad there was already some planted here.
I know my kitchen window is dirty on the outside but new ones are soon to be installed so I'll pass on hauling out the ladder! ☺ I'll miss the charming old wood windows but I WON'T miss the draftiness! BRRRR! They are so old that the glass wiggled in the panes when I washed the inside.

I hope you're all doing well. It might be another month before I have Internet. Booooo- hooooo! I miss you!

Dinning Room Progress

Here's my dinning room built- in! I work on it in spurts throughout the day as I try to decide what will go in here and what will go on my Shabby Chic shelf. I'd like to change out the knobs some day-or paint them.
I'm working in this hutch first because I still haven't' decided where my shabby shelf will go... It needs the perfect spot, ya know? I'm trying to mix all my pinks and blues together while adding touches of yellow... I'll show you again when I'm finished! (Are we ever really finished with such things?!)
I'm parked here in town in front of our little community garden. I love my little town and I love my life. I'm having peanut M&Ms for breakfast. It's fun being so naughty!
I look forward to being able to spend more time with you in the future. Thank you for all your comments! You are the frosting on my cake!

Kitchen Friends

Look, girls! Little by little, all my red and yellow kitchen "friends" are gathering together in my farm kitchen! They're so happy here! I keep moving them around, adding to and taking away and just generally playing with them. I love to play house! These shelves are above my sink. I don't have a window above my sink but for some reason, it doesn't bother me with my friends here.

My silly cupboards won't shut all the way! Hee-hee! That's one of the quirks of living in an old house. I'm a bit quirky myself so it's okay. I'm thinking about painting my "knobs' RED WITH WHITE DOTS. ☺

Dinning room pictures tomorrow!

Bedroom View

This is the view outside my bedroom window. I love this hill. It seems like Laura and Mary Ingalls could come tumbling down it any minute!

I've started decorating! Now that I have two "display cases" I'm having a difficult time deciding what should go where! What a problem, huh?
I hope to show pictures of my dinning room built- in very soon.

I miss you all!

Just Enjoying The View

Happy weekend, girls! I'm still not decorating- just enjoying the view!
Hopefully I'll start making things cute next week!
