A Collection Grows!

Can you believe this teddy bear/cowboy planter? ADORABLE! I won it via a "Let Me Thrift For You Giveaway" hosted by Sonya of Dime Store Thrift. Thanks again, Sonya!!! Go visit Sonya HERE.

Sonya said that she would go thrifting for whatever the winner likes to collect. Since I'm wanting to start my baby planter collection back up- I said vintage BABY PLANTERS! Look how intricate this "crocheted" bootie planter is!

Sonya sent along this little guy, too. He looks QUITE VINTAGE don'tcha think? Maybe from the 50s or 60s?

These cuties are already packed up now and will greet me in my new home in Idaho!
Have any of you started up a new collection?

I Found My Samantha Cup On The Net!

I had so much fun searching the Net for this cup last night! There's no name stamped on the bottom so the hunt was on! She comes from the Taylor Smith Taylor line called "Ever Yours Boutonniere" I found them being sold on several sites for a whole lot more than the 25 cents I paid at the GW! ☺ One person said they remembered their mother getting them out of boxes of Quaker Oats! If my sources are correct, my hunch concerning her age was right. One site said that these were discontinued in 1962. Here's the link to one such site if you're interested.

Since I'm not decorating, crafting or treasure hunting in the midst of this big move coming up, it was really fun for me to go "treasure hunting" in *this* way! I was so excited when I finally found the cup and its *real* name! But of course, she'll always be Samantha to me.

Have a great day everyone!

My Samantha Cup

This is my favorite cup. I found it at the Good Will in the city. My first thought was "1960s". The very next (?) day, my Bobby and I watched an old episode of Bewitched together. Lo and behold, there was Samantha in her 60s kitchen drinking coffee from a white cup that was lined with this same Aqua color! I was so tickled! This cup is now known as my Samantha cup! I wrapped it up and packed it away yesterday. Travel safely, dear!

A Gift Left Behind

I think this is Bridal Wreath! I found it (hardly) growing out in the 100 acre wood behind our house. It was growing near an old homestead site. I think a sweet little wifey must have planted it there. ☺ She planted some Daffodils back there, too. Well, I like to think it was a little wifey. I guess it could have been a big wifey like me or an old grampa but I like to pretend it was a little wifey/kindred spirit. She had to leave her homestead to go out West (just like me!) and she left that bridal wreath bush for me to enjoy. And I have.

Bird House Make Over

Happy Monday girl friends! This is my last make over- for awhile anyhow! ☺
This poor bird house has seen many transformations through the years. It started out as a 1980s watermelon house! I liked the latest Yellow and Blue but I wanted it yellow and pink for my front porch so out came the paints! And the pretty paper! This is the same pink that's on my flower box but it looks white here...
It occurred to me that the paper wouldn't tolerate the Virginia humidity so it's staying in the house instead of the porch! I didn't even get to finish dolling up my porch before the house sold!

Packing news:
All my craft supplies, DVDs, CDs, VCR, cassette tapes and most of our books are packed. Micah has his room pretty much packed up, too. Now I'm packing up all the decor which takes a while!
I've been doing good about not lifting much but all the bending is still a challenge! I'm already losing weight!

Secret Message

I already told Carrie about this but as I was deep cleaning the other day, I saw a large crack behind one of my upper kitchen cabinets. I thought about how neat it would be to find something old behind there or even some hidden money! ☺ Perhaps if I had been able to remove that cabinet, I *would* have found something fun but since I couldn't FIND any treasure, I decided to bury some!

I wrote out a small message, signed it and dated it, tucked in a $1.00 bill and hid it away in that crack! ~ Giggle ~ I wished I would have had $100.00 to tuck in there but I think it would be fun to just find one and a note- wouldn't you?

Surely someone, some day, will remove those cabinets! Maybe the one dollar bill will no longer exist then and it will actually be worth something! ☺ Maybe they will "google me" and find my ancestors. Or who knows, maybe the new owners of this house will find it and think, "We knew she was weird." Ha-ha!

Have a honey of a day, everyone!

For the Kitchen

Another quick after and before. Are you tired of them yet? ☺
This is after. (Gotta love me some strawberries!) This is before. Cheap pic from the Goodwill- nabbed for its Yellow frame.

I washed it up and popped a calendar pic in it and now it hangs in the happy kitchen that "sold" my house!!
Moving progress:
Did more dejunking yesterday and packed 5 boxes! Not bad for a late start to the day. I was sad to pack up my crafting supplies. Decor comes next.
Now that we have sold our house, we are moving to the Moscow Idaho area next month to be with our 3 adult sons, 1 daughter in law and 3 grandchildren! Our grands were so excited when they heard the news!
My husband Bobby does not have a job lined up there but he is a laborer and has always been able to find work. He hopes to get on at the University of Idaho as a night custodian. We don't have any housing lined up yet either. We're looking online and friends and our family are looking there for us, too. We will probably rent at first and then hopefully buy again farther down the time line. Since we will be arriving in the later part of the month of May, we might have to stay in a motel until June 1rst- but I hope not!
We are quite prepared to receive a housing miracle or make some sacrifices for a while. I'm not sure what the Lord's plan is but I know that He knows and that's all that matters!
Thanks for coming by and I hope you all have a happy day!

My Humble Blue Living Room

Hi girlies! See the wall with the quilt? That's the wall that I worked on during my glorious Spring break. Bobby put the last coat on for me. Painting over paneling is not the lickety split job of painting over dry wall or some other surface- especially if you're a woman with defective wrist bones!! The other window wall is what I painted last year. Nothing slow about me! Ha!
You can see that there is still brown paneling on the other wall but that didn't stop our house from selling! I have pretty sheets over the love seat and chair which have seen much better days! I love the slip cover look better anyway. ☺
This is a tiny room and I never liked going in here before. It was so dark and boxy. Even with 2 walls left in the brown paneling, I like it much better now. Too bad we're not staying! (NOT!)
Under Contract:
We counter offered yesterday and he countered back to us and we are finally done! If all goes smoothly we will close on May 14th! HELP! ☺

My Greeters

Remember the ugly brown planter from this post? Here it is now on my happy porch, greeting you at the front door! This planter is Pink and Yellow. (The Pink looks darker in person.) These Johnies are just placed inside the planter in little pots as this planter is meant for artificial flowers and is not water worthy.

House News:
Our buyers made their offer yesterday and we counter offer today after our pest inspection! If all goes well, we close May 15th! Yikes!
Oh- and our realtor said that what sold our house was the kitchen and the property. ☺ See, I knew it was that wreath! Ha-ha!
It's actually funny to me because I don't like the kitchen but I do love the property and I will miss it! Not as much as I miss my kids, though!
Oh- and we had to agree to give them our porch swing so I think the porch may have had something to do with it, too!

I'm really hoping to REST today before the real madness begins!

Dot Wreath For The Kitchen

Cute? This is the dot wreath I made on my glorious Spring break! I've been looking for White fabric with Red dots to add to it but I haven't found any yet. This wreath is a bit less tidy than some I've made but it somehow works. My cute bunny tag is from Lindsey of Two Crazy Crafters. I am convinced that this wreath is what really sold my kitchen. (KIDDING!)

House News:
Those of you who follow me on facebook have been hearing the play by play but for those of you who haven't, we have an interested buyer in our house (they've come twice to see the place) and we are in the WAITING mode to hear their offer. It looks like we *could* be living in Idaho next month!

Have a super duper day girl friends!

For The Porch

Hello girl friends! I've been working, working, working on my front porch making it all cute for a potential buyer! This is a little Spring bulb arrangement I put together in a my Easter basket that I got from Noelle last year! It needs one more flower yet.

Yes, I know my table cloth is terribly wrinkled. I'm hoping the humidity will take some of the wrinkles out because I'm afraid if I wash it one more time it will fall completely apart and there's no taking an iron to it either!! This vintage table cloth was the inspiration for my porch color palette! Bobby is painting the foundation today and then I'll take a picture of the whole porch.
A potential House buyer already!

We showed the house for the first time yesterday. The couple stayed for an hour and our realtor said they are VERY interested and that we should expect an offer come Monday. The wife even wanted to know what color we were painting the foundation to make sure it went with her plans for the house! She wants to paint the house a really light Yellow which is exactly what I would do if I stayed here!

I was so glad I was able to sleep well last night because my mind was going 90 to nothing at bed time! It would be so wonderful if we could move before the heat and humidity hits! Once that happens- my energy goes out the window!

I'll keep you posted!

Lamp After and Before

$5.00 lamp from Goodwill- After Before

That's enough painting for me for awhile! Now if only I could find a lamp *shade* at the Goodwill!
We had a huge hail storm yesterday! Pics tomorrow!

A Rose Frame Gets A New Life!

Happy Monday, girls! Here's another before and after project that I did on my Spring break!

I love that palest pink! I don't know if I'll stick to that fabric that I put in... I finally removed the back piece. I was kind of scared that I'd break the whole backing but it came off okay! Whew!
What I did on my Spring break:
What some of you don't know is that I was ALL ALONE for my Spring break! ALL ALONE for 8 glorious days!!!! My husband and son flew to Texas to visit family and I got to stay home! My favorite place in the world. ☺ I worked hard and played hard and I didn't have to stop for anything. I didn't get sick and I didn't hurt my back- a miracle if you know me- and I didn't get lonely at all!
Here's some of the specifics of what I did while alone!
I scrubbed and waxed floors
Painted cabinets and walls
Painted several upcycled projects
Removed the old caulking from the bath tub and applied fresh caulking
Scrubbed down part of the porch wall.
Planted flowers and cleaned up yard junk
Ate LOTS of chocolate
Danced to oldies
Made a polka dot rag wreath
De-junked big time!
Watched lots of movies and had the computer ALL TO MYSELF!
Went Goodwilling 4 (?) times
Listened to the silence...
And now- it's back to reality! Back to school and almost ready to sell our house. We meet with our realtor this week- possibly Wed! HELP!
Hope you all had a nice Easter Holiday! We sure did!

A Better Wall Planter

After Before

I had the hardest time getting the yellow the shade I wanted it to be on this planter! Up close, a brighter Yellow can still be seen in the cracks. First it was too pale, then it was too bright and now, I'm tired of painting! Ha-ha!

My porch is going to have a Yellow, Pink and Green theme. Green being the house color!

I worked myself silly yesterday but today, I'm off to get my hair cut and then home to color and highlight it and then REST!

I hope you all have a great Easter week end! see you on Monday! ♥

Wicker Frame Re-do

Yippee! Here's another Goodwill "after" project done! Here's the "before" when I bought it last Spring! (Hello Pansies!)

This Burgundy color was *not* easy to cover and wicker is not easy to paint either!
I was able to finish up 2 projects yesterday and this was one of them. *That* sure felt good! I also planted some Pansies in my fence planters. I planted all gold so they will really pop on some curb appeal for selling the house.
Good day, all! ☺
