One Small Treasure

Hurray! First treasure reward in a long while, girls! Bobby and Micah took me to a local pawn and thrift shop that I had never been to before and there were lots of vintage dishes but everything was *SO* expensive that I almost gave up hope! But then- there she was was! A pretty serving bowl for only $2.00! Isn't she lovely!? I'm trying not to buy anything too big since I'm supposed to be down sizing for our move to Idaho but I just couldn't pass her up!

The shop worker there was typical of the friendly and talkative older folks in these parts. She acted like she and Bobby were old friends so I joined in on the party and now were old friends, too. ☺

It's still my week end so I'm hoping to clean up my craft room today. It's getting on my nerves. There has to be at least one small space to work at or I can't think! So, I'll clean it up all nice and bare and then I'll be able to think again!

I had a nice mood lifter when my eldest son called me yesterday morning on his way to work! He's sort of like me as far as not being so good on the phone so it makes it hard for us to keep connected. He was the last of my older sons to officially leave home and I really miss him! I don't think I realize how much I miss *all* my boys until one of them calls and then I'm super happy all day!

Another surprise blessing from my week end was sleeping 10 hours strait through the night last night! I was shocked when I woke up! I haven't slept 10 hours in... months? And I haven't slept through the night in over a month. What a relief! I feel such a difference in my mood! The older I get, the more I realize how much sleep and sunshine affects my mood. And of course treasure hunting and calls from grown children don't hurt!

I hope you all can find a good mood lifer today! I think we all need it!

Pretty Pressies

Shhh... I can't say who these Valentine presents are for but I love how our Aussie friends say "pressie" instead of present! The pressie above is for a "girl" and the one bellow is for a "boy". I made the little tags for each of them. The tissue paper, yummy trims, some of the papers and the decals came from other bloggers! I'm so thankful to have them to use and I'm so thankful for my blogger friends!
I don't know about you but I have the hardest time wrapping a present for a boy or a man! This particular boy happens to be a nature lover (just like me) so I went with a nature theme. I wonder if those seams would have ironed out? I don't think he'll notice them, though! If I could have found my raffia, I would have used it for ribbon but I think my raffia went to live in the lost craft lands.
This is my week end, girls! We are going treasure hunting today- just here in town and then home for a movie. As a family, we're on a Sci-Fi kick lately so we'll be watching the original Star Wars. As a girl, I'm back to watching McLeod's Daughters. I was mad at the writers and stopped watching but now I've forgiven them. ☺
Are you excited that Jan. is almost over? We've had so many warm spells and such good health that this Winter isn't troubling me as much as last Winter; although like most of you, I do have the "blahs". Hang in there, girls! Our enthusiasm will return with the sun!
Be happy!

Cleaning And Crafting

Hi there, Girls! Where have I been? I've been going crazy with these things- they're addicting! I use the off brand but I did buy the original to see if there is any difference and there isn't!Even though I think cleaning is fun, I don't have the energy to do it for too long so I'm still crafting, too. I'm still making lots of fun little valentine cards with my vintage images and the images of others. Here's one of mine that you're welcome to copy.
I've also been de-junking! Every day, I add something to the GW bag or throw something away. Things like the hard as a rock instant coffee that I know I'll never use go in the trash! It feels good to down size a bit.
I've also been adjusting to Bobby going back to work and trying to find a schedule for us all. One of the great things about home schooling is that you can bend your schedule all over the place. Yesterday was a rare sunny and windy day so I let Micah play outside all day and do his school work once the sun went down. I think he even studied better after all that wind and sun! But of course *I* was too tired and cranky to be much help to him once his studies began! Ha! I was close to tears trying to get him to care about spelling! But Micah also knows that I get just like a cranky 3 year old near my bed time! "Why don't you just go to bed, Mom?" Is a question he has often asked!
Well, girls, just like my puppy card says, "Have fun today!" I know I will!

Boots!

Hee-hee! Here's my winter boots, girls! They appear a bit darker here than in reality. I wanted the light brown kind but they were all out of my size! Size 8 must be the most common size... Anybody want to Google that? ☺Bobby tried getting a full body shot but I was having a "bad fat day" and I didn't like the full shot pics! ☺ Isn't it the worse feeling when you look in the mirror and think you're looking pretty good and then you see a picture and think "PLUS SIZE!" Well, I *am* plus size and always will be so oh well! ☺ It's just that inside I feel like a very small person but then when I see a pic of myself next to other people- like in our family portraits, I'm reminded of how large of a person I am! It's weird but it's okay because it's part of who I am...

I'll show you our family portraits when we get them. What a grueling experience! Poor Micah just can't fake a smile and he was TIRED of the whole thing and showed it! Ha!

We didn't get to go to the Goodwill for our reward because an ice storm came up and the Goodwill closed their doors and went home! Boo-hoo! We did have fun going out to eat though and then we came home and had a family movie with candy and popcorn chips. We finally got around to watching the last Star Wars movie. Poor Anikin! So sad!

Have you ever dreamed about blogging? ☺ I did this morning:
I dreamed that I got a hold of a baby/childhood toy of mine that I really don't remember. I can't even tell you what it was... A yellow tin stove or something to do with baby dolls maybe? I was so excited to have it though and I couldn't wait to take pictures of it for my blog!!! Ha-ha! Then in my dream I told Micah, "This isn't just vintage! It's an antique because it has to be 50 years old to be antique." He then said, "Well... mom... you're not 50 years old yet so how could this be 50 years old???"
Ha-ha! Me and math- even in my dreams! I think I'm suffering from post lag over here so I need to dream something up! Ha-ha!
Have a funny day girls!

I'm Addicted!

Just when I was about to give up on card making I decided to become addicted instead! I love this brunette lady (below) from my own stash because she reminds me of my mom when she was young and glamorous.
Can't forget about the precious little boys...

or the blondies!
Here's mom again. ☺

What? No kittens or puppies?! Maybe next time!
I'm getting such a collection of card images that I truly am forgetting where each one came from! Do any of you have that problem? Just know that if these cards were shared by YOU, I really appreciated it at the time -even though I can't remember that you gave them to me! Hee-hee!

Twyla, if any of these images came from you and Lindsey, let me know and I'll give you credit and you can also link to me again if you want to. You don't have to ask.
The weatherization guys are coming back today to finish up their work. Bobby will have to sleep in my craft room so I won't get to make cards today. I'll have to wait until tonight!
Hope you all have a happy day!

Intents!

Happy Monday, blogging girls! Here's another vintage image to share. Ha-ha! I just love these little Valentine puns!

I have a bunch more hand made Valentines to show but my pics are not behaving- maybe by tomorrow!

One of the many reasons I haven't been on here much is because Micah uses the computer for Math and Spelling. Hopefully we can have a second computer next year! I don't like having to share but I'm getting used to it.

I'm off to town today to try and find a matching shirt for Micah to wear for our family portrait. I do not like getting portraits done! This was Bobby's idea. He set up the appointment and everything without discussing it with me... THAT is a first. My dear husband is NOT predictable. He's kept me guessing for almost 30 years! I tried re- gaining control ☺ and talking him in to canceling but I could tell he really wanted to do it...

Hopefully I 'll be back tomorrow to show my Valentines! Hope you have a great day!

Boy And Puppy Image To Share

Here's the image I used on my card that I showed yesterday! Please feel free to copy and use it if you'd like!

I'm having so much fun working with these images. Hopefully I'll be back on Monday with more cards to show!
Have a great week end sweet hearts!

I've Been Making Little Valentines

Looky here, girls! Every spare minute, I run into my Sweet Retreat and work on these little bitty Valentine cards! So fun! These first two were made with images shared by the Two Crazy Crafters- Twyla and Lindsey. And YUP, there's those kitties again ☺ plus another valentine made with a copy of my own card which was given to me by Garage Sale Gal Deb!

Almost all my supplies came from friends, too!! Thanks so much to all my sharing and caring blogging girls who have encouraged me and supplied me as an artist and crafter- you know who you are!
I bought a lace paper punch with my Christmas money. I'm so glad I bought it and I'm having so much fun with it! I'm also trying real hard to learn more about my printer. I get so confused when I have to turn papers this way and that AND bush buttons! Ha!
It's supposed to get up to 50 today! Woo-hoo! We feel like Spring chickens over here! ☺I hope to clean, clean, clean and soak up some sunshine.
We have men coming over to put insulation in our walls and attic today so now we'll be ready for the next cold spell! They will also be installing a new window in Micah's room. The old window actually rattles in the wind!
Bobby is off today and he's going is to the Dr. for his snoring and sleep apnea- something that I've wanted him to do for yeeeeears!
So many things to be thankful for!
Have a great day girlfriends!

New Blog Dress And An Image To Share

Girls At Heart is ready for Valentine time! Do you like my new kitty header? There's not many kitty Valentines out there! The image came from Twyla and Lindsey at Two Crazy Crafters but I erased the original writing and put my writing on it all by myself. ☺ I've been wanting to learn how to do that for a long time now! All the vintage images in my side bar were gleaned from Twyla, Lindsey and Elizabeth from Creative breathing (and maybe other places, too?) but some of them belong to me. The image above is mine. Please feel free to copy it for your use! This is the bridge card that Jenny from The Red Bulletin board gave me last year. I'll be sharing more of my own images in the days to come.

Well, this is our first day back to full time work and school since July! We're so excited because it's supposed to get up in the 40s this week! Perfect timing! It's been over a week since it's been above freezing here!

Thanks for all your love and concerns about my veins. I'm all cheered up now! I've been living with these things since 1981 and if I have to KEEP living with them- then I just do! It's time to move on!

I hope you all have a great week. I'm sure preparing for one!

My New Doo and No Surgery

Hi, girls! I don't *really* have a new "Doo". Since my hair is ultra dry, I can't blow dry it so I always go for a natural look. They're still a bit too short, but see how happy I am to have my bangs back? This is BEFORE I left for my vein Dr. appointment yesterday!

Too make a longer story long:
My primary Dr. thought that my medical program would pay for the vein Dr. to do surgery on my varicose veins. I guess she thought this because my veins are some of the worse she has ever seen and I have a family history of clots and stroke. But, after sitting through a lengthy ultra sound and consultation with the vein Dr. about the surgery procedure and having my hopes SOAR that I might have pretty and pain free legs next Summer, he then informed me that although his consultation and the ultra sound were covered, I would have to pay CA$H for the surgery!

I DO NOT have a poker face so he was very apologetic and so nice and he really tried to make me feel better. He even came back out to the waiting room to talk to me some more and he put in writing that he'd do my surgery for half price! Well, that just made it worse!!! You know how it is when you're already feeling sorry for yourself and then someone comes along and shows pity? ☺ Ha-ha-ha! I spent the rest of the day in town blinking back tears and blowing my nose! Girls, that is not like me! I am NOT a crier- especially in public!!!

I was even blinking back tears while in line at K-Mart buying my Winter boots. And then do you know what happened?! The lady 2 customers in front of me paid for the lady behind her- a random act of kindness and we had this whole line of ladies blinking back tears! Ha-ha-ha! Oh my! I couldn't wait to get home and Boo-hoo in private! Ha-ha! And boo- hoo I did! Over and over and over!

To make it EVEN worse, Bobby said he thinks we should go ahead and use our moving money to get the surgery but that it is up to me! And I'm thinking, It *is* half price but.... I want to move! (Insert more tears here) Micah even hugged me and said, "Mama you just need to go watch Star Trek." I even tried watching what I thought would be a funny movie but even that made me cry! Ha-ha! What a mess! I was so glad to finally go to bed and wake up feeling better- a little anyway!

Well, it's back to work for us all on Monday so I intend to enjoy my 3 day week end! Maybe I'll get some crafting in... I know that will make me feel better... Maybe I'll work on decorating my blog for Valentine's Day, too.
♥ ♥ ♥

(PS Doc did not feel that I am any more at risk for blood clots than the next person.)

Tiny Treasures

Hi there, girl hearts! These treasures aren't very tiny but I just had to use the title! ☺ I've been limiting my GW treasure hunting to small, inexpensive things. These cutie pie wall plaques were just 75 cents each. I think the fabric was $1.00 Here's a close up of one of the plaques. I'm not sure but I might put something else in the middle of each of these. I think my granddaughter Elizabeth might like them too so I might give them to her once we move out to Idaho.

It was so much fun going and getting my hair cut yesterday! I came home feeling quite chirked up! I even feel motivated to loose some weight this week. Tooooo much cookies and candy and noooot enough exercise! My pants just don't fit right. I sure do miss my swimming pool this time of year!
I started unpacking my Valentine's day craft supplies and decor. Now I just have to find my vintage Valentines! My poor paper supplies keep getting moved around so much that they are still a big mess! I want to scan my Valentines like I did with my Christmas cards. That way I can share them with you AND add them to my side bar.
I just have 2 more Christmas boxes to move down to the basement but guess what? My White tree is staying up in the Dinning room and it was Bobby's idea! ☺ I did take the decorations off, though. It just looks so sweet in my pastel dinning room.
Today we have company and tomorrow is my Dr. appointment. They are going to take pictures of my ugly legs for their before and after pics so I'll get to be a model yet! Ha-ha!
Have a great day, girlfriends! You're all special to me and to God!

Holly Loves Kittens!

It's not just vintage card kittens that I love! I love the real deal! I put each of these to sleep one by one with my special touch! They are at that scampering with a fat little tummy stage and they are so precious! Micah took this pic but I told him, "Not the face, not the face- just the jammies!"

Get ready for Chit-chat, Girls!

I don't have any crafting or project posts lined up for you. Can anyone say 'Boring"?! ☺ Like most of you, I've been taking down most of the Christmas decor. I'm packing my Christmas stuff very carefully and tightly in light of our up coming cross country move so it's a bit more time consuming than usual. I've also started cleaning and dejunking! I know once I get a bit of this out of my system, I'll be creating for Valentines Day and blogging more! I'll wear out! Ha!

Bobby has his last Dr's appointment for his shoulder this week and he'll probably be released to go back to work Friday! That means Micah and I go back to "work" too but I think we're all getting bored and we're ready for the change.

I have a Dr's appointment with a vascular surgeon on the same day as Bobby to see about having the veins in my legs repaired. I have the worse varicose veins that you can imagine. No Dr. has ever seen veins as bad as mine! I've always wanted to fix them for cosmetic reasons but now there are medical concerns as well. So, I may also be facing surgery in the near future. I do not like going to the Dr. and it about makes me faint every time I think about it! So, I tell myself over and over, "It's no big deal." and I try not to think about! The day of our Dr's appointments we'll go out to eat and I'll go shopping for uggs with my Christmas money, too! That will be my little reward.

I'm going to get my hair cut tomorrow! I want my bangs back! I miss them! I also need a fresh all over layering. The next day I'll color my hair and them I'll feel all ready to go to the big city with my new clothes!

Like most of the country, It's been terribly windy and cold here! My bathroom pipes froze up so I'm having to use the guys bathroom... Bummer. It's hard to get out in the sun much and I'm feeling gloomy. It's just a feeling though and I know it will pass but it sure is... gloomy!!! Can anyone say, BLAH!? ☺

I drug myself to town on Sat. to shop for clothes at the GW! I really didn't "feel" like getting out but I knew it would be good for me and it was! I'm so glad I went! I found a brand new pair of pants that are actually long enough for me. I'm so glad there are more tall women these days! I also bought 3 Winter tops. I hate Winter clothes but getting "new" ones help!

Although I told myself I wouldn't buy anymore Christmas stuff, I did buy some cute ornaments for just 35 cents! I also shopped for pants for Micah. This is the only time of year he wears pants and he always grows like a weed so last year's pants never fit! One pair of the pants were too short for him so I'll go and exchange those this morning. My guess is that he'll be as tall as me by the end of next Summer!

We're also having a friend over for gumbo this week so it looks like I have a much busier week ahead than I'm used, too!
Well, that's all my news and doings! If you don't see me posting, you'll know why! Let's rally together and help each other laugh at the Winter blues!!!
