Glimpses Of The Craft Room and Some Girl Talk

Hello, girls! I'm always looking for creative ways to display some of my vintage cards and this little nick knack shelf does just the trick! I don't show many pics from my craft room because I don't have much sun in here and THAT makes for some dull shots! My craft room is actually just one side and one other corner of my bedroom. I don't share a room with hubby so it's all mine.

* Yes this is kind of personal but it might help someone!

Separate sleeping areas for us as a couple came about after my hubby's shoulder surgery and it worked so well for us both that we've kept it up. I realize now that most of the mood swings I experienced for all my married years were caused by lack of sleep. I'm a new woman now! My husband snores loudly, has sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome and is a shift worker. All these things combined were totally ruining my sleep and health! Yes, at times I miss the closeness and we have to be creative to recapture that but we're happy and it's been one of the best decisions we've ever made!

Okay- true confession time is over! lol! Enjoy your life!

Well there is nothing wrong with this it just makes sense what you have to do.

I totally understand that. When my husband snores, not all the time, but when he does I sometimes would go on the couch. When my youngest leaves the nest I am fixing up his room into a girly girly shabby chic room with a daybed, my desk and computer, and a sewing cabinet and put out all my little statues and things. If he snores I'll have a nice place to sleep. It will be like my own little apartment. I'm glad you are feeling better now!! Who knows what you can accomplish?

I too have sleep apnea...I am alone now but, when my husband was here with me...this was a problem for him as far as his sleeping...he was always nudging me or something because I was distracting him from his sleep...so I completely understand...I would love to see more of your room...the shelf is so sweet. Blessings

What a great subject to talk about. Len and I are talking about the same thing because I am awake from 4am to 9pm usually and he is awake from 9am to about 2am every day. He's had many nights on the couch and I must admit, we've had a few BIG disagreements over this. I'm tired, he's tired, it just is a mess. We have a guest room and I've suggested moving in. He puts on the brakes and does not want change...

Oh, you can see you hit a hot button with me...we've gotta do something about it. Our solution so far is me in the bed and he on the couch.

Good for you two for working it out and sleeping sound and being in agreement over it.

Love you sugar!

Hi Holly! I haven't slept with my husband in years! He's worked nights as long as I can remember. I honestly don't think I'd sleep a wink if he were there. Very interesting subject, I enjoyed reading what everyone was saying. Cute shelf! Twyla

P.S. I forgot to say...That it's great that you and hubby found a sensible solution for feeling better and getting more sleep...it is soooo important to our health no doubt.... whatever works best is what people should do...especially when it's a solution to feeling better and healtier :) If there was a study on this subject...they would probably find that marriages are even better for people that sleep in seperate beds who knows? I have heard that more couples are starting to sleep in seperate rooms...if it works it works :)

I have to confess that when my hubby had his shoulder surgery and had to be sleeping in the recliner and on the couch for a while to get rest because he couldn't sleep flat yet, honey I was in the bedroom sleeping like a baby, because I had the bed all to myself.... I never woke up feeling so rested in my life lol! Honey, I'd sleep right in the middle of the bed. So yeah there's something to hogging a bed and having it to yourself that makes you feel more rested...not waking up to snoring is always a good thing too! Oh and Girl, My hubby keeps the nose strip company in business...he snores...he tells me that I do too though lol! :)

Well, anyway...now He's back in the bed again and nope, I'm not sleeping as good as I once was...so there is something to this sharing a bed stuff.... there really is...anyway.... good for you that you have your own room now...sweet dreams to you! It was fun reading what the others said too...looks like some of us are in the same boat with this subject! Enough confessing from me lol! Have a great weekend sweetie :)

Hi Holly,
Sounds like it works for you. My hubby also snores, tosses and turns and we have 3 dogs sleeping with us...talk about not sleeping!!!

I just had my husband read your post and the comments! He has always snored and it has gotten louder over the years. About 3 years ago I took over the spare bedroom. As the oldest of 10 kids it was the first time in my life (at 47) that I ever had my own room. I have to admit I love having my own space and we both sleep so much better. I say don't knock it till you try it!

I live with a snorer and when he's having a bad night I just go right over to the guest room. Do I love him any less...heck no, but if you don't get enough sleep, it affects your life in a bad way! It's good that you've solved the problem in a way you both agree on.
Sweet dreams!
Your shelf is so cute!
