Snow People Apron and House News

I went to the grand opening/new location of our local antique mall and found this ADORABLE little apron with snow people on it- just like the vintage cards we love!!  I hope to get clearer pics of it soon. The new mall location is awesome and the lighting is so much better than in the old mall.  I so look forward to having a booth there some day!

THE BIG BAD NEWS:
Have you thought I've been quiet about the new house?  That's because there ISN'T going to be one!  BOO-HOO!  WHAAAA!  Our private inspection (on my birthday!) revealed a bad foundation and roof and evidence of insects so our lender had to back out!  I've been shocked, grieved and feel a little silly for jumping the gun.  Our lender's inspection seemed so detailed and the sellers had accepted out offer- so I foolishly charged ahead!  Never again!  (yeah, right) So, we're back to the drawing board and will probably give up trying to buy a crooked old house with acreage.  (Why must I love old houses so?)

We need to stay with the lender we have so we're already looking at newer houses in town that are more likely to meet their standards.  Of course I hate them all!  Ha! I don't know if I could ever feel "settled" in town so this has been really hard for me on *SO* many different levels.  We can't really take our time looking since we have to be off the farm by spring so I feel pressure.  Spring is a way off but this last house venture took MONTHS of my time, energy, money and emotion so we have to keep looking unless we want to try and rent again and we don't!

I'm going to be okay but thanks for all your love, prayers and support.

PS I'll soon be deleting the old house posts because I can't stand to look at them- it's like a punch in the gut!

Oh, sweetie! I am so sorry...I know you were so excited and we were excited for you. Sometimes I want to pop people who say "where one door closes, another one opens" but in your case I believe there is an open door in your future.

Oh Holly, I am sooooo sorry!! My heart is breaking for you :( i know how much you loved that house. I too was very upset to have to be in the city. But I am making it work, lol. I love the house but hate the yard. Oh well, I guess I will have to make it my own somehow. I pray that you find the perfect place that you love and feel at home the minute you walk in the door. Love to you sweet friend,
Amy

Try to think that God KNEW that the house wasn't for you and there will be the right one at the right time! But, you already know that!

Darn Darn Darn! I'm really bummed for you! But at the risk of sounding too sappy, there must be a bigger reason that this house wasn't meant to be your home!
Things will work out! And oh boy did you get the cutest apron or what?? Have you seen how people hang them as a little window curtain valance? Darling!

Dearest Holly. I am so very sorry about the house. I am glad these major flaws were found before you owned the house though. I can't imagine how you must feel. Please continue to look for an old house that is crooked. I've lived in one all of my adult life. There is nothing like them. Maybe you can make a trade off and get an old house, but in town? I am thinking and praying for you. Don't be blue...a new old house awaits you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your disappointment, but I am so glad that you had a thorough house inspection that revealed these major flaws for you before you REALLY had some heartache. It's for the best - although it doesn't seem like it now. Fingers crossed that something charming comes along that you can love :) I am always reminding myself to "bloom where I'm planted" Keep your chin up - good things are just around the corner :)

This story reminds me of the Big Bad Wolf, however, after he huffed and he puffed he didn't blow all houses down. Your little home could be made of brick. No straw allowed and no old wood with bugs. You need a firm foundation like brick and morter.

Sending you smiles and big hugs. Think of it this way, you were blooming like a flower and some bad ass lawnmower came along and mowed you down, you will grow again my dear and bloom where you are planted.

Hi...I am a new follower. =)

I am so sorry about the house falling through. Buying a new home is a huge emotional roller coaster ride. I had one myself when we bought this house. It makes me love it all the more, though. The perfect-for-you-house is out there. I just know it!!

Oh, Holly, I am so sorry about the house. :-( But at this point, the only thing you can do is move forward. There is a great house waiting for you, somewhere out there. Keep your chin up.

Oh Hollie....I am so sorry about the house, but you know what? It would have been a nightmare to move into with those kinds of problems.....thank heavens you found out before you signed on the dotted line! There is a sweet little home just waiting for your touch! Hang in there and think outside the box when you go through the front door of any house you look at. Just look at the space, other things can be changed! Hang in there....I am up in Wisconsin and the weather is really cold and fall lasted a week! lol Hugs, Sandy

Oh, I'm so sorry. I know it doesn't take the pain away, but knowing they found these problems BEFORE you moved in is really a blessing in disguise. I love old homes, too, so I know how you feel. I pray that you find the right one in due time.
I love vintage apron...too, too cute!!

Dang, sorry about the house, but it's better to know about the problems now than later. You will find something that will win you over and you will make it adorable with all your vintage stuff before you know it!

Aw geez, I'm so sorry. I know how awful you must feel. I actually am sad too, I was looking forward to many posts and pics from that little house. I guess this means that God has something even better in store for you. Remember, unanswered prayers are sometimes the answer to the prayer. I can't wait to see the house that is just waiting for you to find it. It will be wonderful and perfect and you will be so excited again. I promise. You just have to be patient, it's out there.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE VINTAGE SNOW PEOPLE. I want one, apron, tablecloth, whatever! If you ever see another one with the snow people buy it for me and I'll pay you!!!!

We lost a house too, there had been a contingent offer sitting on it for two weeks, then their realtor bought their house so they took the one we wanted. We had sold and needed to move and lost two weeks. I'm so sorry, I remember waking up in the middle of the night knowing something was 'wrong' not awake enough to know what, then remembering. As it turned out, we built our dream house and have been in love with it since! Dreams can change after you cry a little...

Hugs,
Tammy

I'm sorry to hear things didn't work out with the older house but happy to know you won't be discovering those issues after you moved in. I love old houses and having owned one (1940's era), there is a secret part of me that thinks having a newer house where everything works on the same day might be nice. :-) And, of course, then I would dream about all the things to add to it to give it an old house look. Best of luck with your next place!

So sorry, Holly! Home inspections should have to be done BEFORE they house gets listed! I'm sure it would save a lot of heartbreak. Everything happens for a reason. Good luck with your search and I can't wait until you find your dream house. It will happen....

Miss Holly I am so sorry for this deep loss. Know that through all of my trying times as late I have found only courage in His words. The loss of the little house will soon turn into the gain we cannot yet see. He has certainly saved you from years of duress with foundation problems.

Yes I do understand how you feel having been there at one point in my life. When we came to Homer we couldn't find a house we liked that was built descent so we decided to buy land and build. Roads were in this subdivision as well as underground power and also sewer, we all have hauled water here however but that is the norm. Doing it this way can run into money you don't have. Back in the 70's I have to move just like you are from the country and we had to move into a small town which I really never liked but had to put up with it until we could sell and leave. We stayed there 11 years.

I am sorry to hear the bad news about the cottage! I know you had your heart set on it. Like everyone else has said, there is a home out there waiting for you - with open arms! (That sounded like a Hallmark card, lol)
You're in my thoughts! Take it easy peasey :)

Oh, Holly...I just know God has one with your name on it...and, that you are going to love it. Sometimes our timing isn't His timing. Do you know the country song "I Thank God for Unanswered Prayers"? I have learned to trust in God just knowing that He is looking out for my best interests. I will be praying that the doors open in a way that you could not have imagined in the coming days and weeks, my sweet friend,
Blessings,
