Help Me Decorate!

Good morning blog friendies!  Did you see my last post?  We got the house!  Yay!  So far, closing is still set for Nov. 27th.  Now I must choose a paint color for the living room because it won't be staying this DARK Burgundy!  My 6-11 son will be painting it for me the day we sign.  I already have a good primer but I must chose a nice light color to go over that.  Although my new cottage is small, the cathedral ceilings give it an open feel.  I'm envisioning a bench in front of that big window with colorful pillows on it to give a window seat feel!  I don't have a bench but I do have a wicker love seat that I meant to put on the porch but maybe for winter it will go in the living room!  What do you think?
Wow, one little click and another whole pic and paragraph were deleted!  Argh!  I guess I'll post one room /one post at a time!  I have so many ideas whirling in my head!  Let me hear yours!

Hi Holly, I agree, the burgundy has to go, maybe a nice Buttermilk color?????? I think the wicker bench would look nice in front of the window till you get another bench, oh so much fun.......Blessings Francine.

Oh Holly!!!!!!!!! I am ecstatic for you!!! And the room is perfect! Love those high ceilings and your ideas sound perfect! Yes, you must get rid of that burgundy color. How about a creamy white, or a soft yellow? Of course I love my soft grey with white trim :) They would all be the perfect backdrop for color.

I received my package from you! Oh my goodness, the garland is sooo pretty! It id perfect for Savannah's room! You must open an Etsy and sell them! They would be super cute wrapped around a little Christmas tree too :) Thank you so much and thank you for the precious baby cards too!
Love ya sweetie,
Amy

Oooooo....congrats!! How exciting :) I'm so happy for you :) As far as paint colors go my only advice would be to check out Martha Stewart & Fig Tree Quilts ( love her color combos) to see what the latest ideas are for colors - it seems like I'm seeing alot of gray showing up lately. Whatever you choose I'm sure it will be perfect. Have fun!

Keep the wall colors a very neutral color. My living room and master bedroom are painted with Behr paints Swiss Coffee which is a premixed color you can buy right off the shelf. Its a very nice cream color it keeps the room feeling bright and airy and it lets all of the colors of your decor pop. Some may find the color too boring for their tastes, but its been on my walls for close to 10 years now and I haven't tired of it yet.

Yay! Your new living room is going to be so pretty! I like the idea of painting your walls a light color and the bench with pillows sounds like a great idea.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Love the room and windows, but the color must go...you are so right!
You need happy, cosy colors up North where the Winter is long. I would say go with a very soft color in the paint section that has the pastel whites. For a touch of color and a bit more, choose one (ask the salesperson) that feels like candle light.Very light, but warm and neutral. Another calming and happy choice is a pale soft green (again chose the lightest shade...they are much much darker on the wall) of meadow green. It will reflect the outdoors. You can mix and match your colorful decor with this one also.
I would stay away from blues, as they can be a tad depressing in the darker months of the year.
I am sooooo excited for you!!!

oh I am seeing so many possibilities!! If it were me I would go in the ivory buttery colors, but not too yellow. Green would be okay as long as you stay really pale with yellow undertones. So excited for you!

Congrat's on getting approved! I'm going to paint my living room "sea salt" by Sherwin Williams. It's a very pretty green tone. It's not dark. I have a sage green now and that is dark! Very exciting for you!
Pick a color that you LOVE!!!

Yeap the color's gotta go! I love the idea of a bench seat with pillows, and the wicker would work until you found a true bench seat. How about a little brown, mocha?

I would be so claustrophobic in that room! Personally, I like a creamy white on the walls, so that I can change all of the pillows/throws/ accessories without worrying about it clashing. Love the idea of a "windowseat". You could curl up like a cat and read a book in the sunshine!

Congrats on the house, yay!!! I'm seeing a soft yellow in that room...very happy and cheery! I have a good yellowi used in my hallway that I can look up the name of if you are interested...
Also, a creamy white is always good, I like and have used "toasted marshmallow" by Behr in my home.

I can see that you are going to be giving your new cottage a bright new face. Oh, those dark walls...They are crying for light! I know you will have your home looking like a doll house in no time. I am so happy you have a closing date that's right around the corner!
