What Color Should I Paint My Front Door?

This is my last day on the farm!  I still feel a little emotional at times but I feel ready for this next stage in life as a town girl!

So tell me, what color would you paint my front door?  My house is the plainest on our street and i want to spice it up a bit!  Keep in mind the colors inside the house.  The living room is white. The dinning, kitchen and hallway are yellow. The baths are sage green and the bedrooms are ? light tan?  I'm not very good at naming colors!  I still don't know what color the outside of the house really is!  The house next door is definitely yellow but mine is what?  Almond? Tan?  My decor inside will be pastel blues, pinks and greens and bright yellows and reds.  I'm leaning toward a red front door but I've seen some red doors go wrong.  Help!
I'm very happy to say that my back hasn't gone out on me during this move AND that my husband and I are still married!  Ha-ha!  I've been so cranky and bossy!  I want things *MY* way!  (Stomps foot!) Well, this move is almost all over and then I can just focus on feathering my nest!
Thanks for helping me move!  You're all the best!

I love decorating (seeing) houses! Love the progress of your new home! Your doing great! My color thoughts are a nice blue shade or if you like reds, a nice burgundy or 'raspberry'? Anything really! can't wait to see!!!!

Maybe you could bring home a few sample bottles of paints you think you might like - then paint them on poster board and hang each one up for a day (or however long) to see which you like best. I'm all about not having to do permanent til I know I love it, with paint. I'll be praying for you today, dear friend.

Think about hunter green! This is coming from a woman who has lavender trim on her house! And, incidentally, the neighbors love it!

Hi Holly! I love a red door! Last fall, I painted mine bright, primary red and I just love the way it turned out :) I think yours would look great red or blue or basically any color with the outside and the white fence :) Cant wait to see what you decide as well as see your house transform into what YOU want it to be! Im so happy for you!!

Amy

Can we vote twice? If you want to play it safe, maybe a med-dk gray. Would match your roof. Yellow and gray look nice together too!

Red! Paint it red, it is warm and welcoming!!!!! :)

My front door is a rich red and I love it! The outdoor colors don't have to match the inside. I've had hunter green before and that was very nice...but RED is best! =D

Red! I thought red right away! It's the color of Welcome!
Hard to leave your farm, but look at all the exciting new adventures ahead!

I say *Paint it a color you just love*, cuz then everytime you look at it you will fall in love all over again. xoso Sandy

It definately has to be red, as long as you can find just the right shade of it that you know you'll love.. :)

Holly it is said that one should paint their front door their favorite color, don't be concerned with what your colors are inside the house just paint it magenta if that is what you like!

Definetly red...a deep barn red...to bring a little of the farm with you

I think a nice fresh green that will reflect the trees and grass.
Also love the idea of the robins egg blue also.
The idea of testing colors is the best idea. ;)

I would say red. I love red front doors. in fact, mine is red also!
I also love sage green. as I peeked at the comments above, it seems that red has the popular vote!

Okay, I'm going out in left field and I would paint it a warm yellow and I'd even put matching yellow shutters on your house! I can see your yard with daffodils and red flowers...I vote yellow and red all around with a little splash of blue forget me knots!
Ha, I'm even gardening for you! Wink!

I think the red sounds lovely. Blue is a nice choice as well...Smiles..Renee

Enjoy your new home :) I love it so far. I am voting for a red door..maybe leaning more toward a rusty red hue rather than true red.
