Welcome To My Colorful Hutch!

Ta-da!  This took me weeks to decorate but here she is!  I'm sure I've done some tweaking since taking and loading these pics but you should be able to tell the look I'm going for.  The farm house vibe I had going in my old farm kitchen wasn't working here at the cottage so I took a different approach. I have so many romantic pinks with no built in hutch to put them in AND I have so many reds from my old kitchen so I'm trying to mix them all up with blues for a multi-color look and I'm loving it!  Because of my yellow walls in the dinning, kitchen and hall, I'm saving a lot of my yellow pretties for the craft room and living room.  They just didn't look right in the hutch.
Thanks for coming by and thank you for loving me for who I am!  ♥

My Valentine Swap Boxes

I made a Valentine button ball garland for my valentine swap partner Retro Sandie.  I sent her other goodies in her boxes too but this is the only thing I took a pic of.
I decorated this medium candy box with with one of my picket fences.

Here's the side. I love this paper fringe that I bought from Jennifer at The Sugar Pink Boutique!
Since I couldn't find a large Valentine heart box, I decorated  a little heart, too!  I loved using these mini pink pom poms- also from Jenifer.  My boxes seem simple compared to others I've seen but I had to go with my simple cottage style!
Here's the side with more fabric trims.  If you want to see pics of the other goodies I sent, go see Sandie's pics!

Blue Bird Pyrex!

Here's a close up of my very first thrifted Pyrex casserole dish!  When I saw it from across the Salvation Army, I wasn't sure if it was Pyrex or not but I was pretty sure it was. I felt so excited yet filled with dread at the same time! Do you ever feel that way when you think you've found something potentially great while treasure hunting?  I started moving across the store (as if) in slow motion!  I was thrilled when I saw it WAS Pyrex and it was just under five dollars!  I thought the pattern was pretty rare and it is!

There is only one small chip on the lid and there were a few grease stains to scrub out but that's it!  My research says it was issued from between 1959-1961. I was born in 61 so I love that.  ☺  This is only the third piece of Pyrex that I have found at the thrifts in the last year.  Vintage Pyrex is hard to come by in small towns so I'm thrilled!

As you can probably tell by my posts, I still haven't gotten the hang of the new "improved" blogger!  Ugh!  Words jump around, pics disappear.  Mama Mia!

My eldest grand girl comes for the night tonight!  It's probably the last time before they  move.  We're going to go shopping, craft and paint each others nails.

Have a great week end everyone!  Thanks for stopping by!

Cutie Pie Kitchen

Welcome to my cutie pie kitchen!  It's so cute, even I can hardly stand it!  ☺

I'm  still tweaking my potholder garland/window treatment.  I need a couple more potholders to fill it out!  I'm hoping to find some with light blue in them.  Included in this garland are gifts from friends, give away gifts and a few of my own thrift and antique store finds.
I tried taking several shots of the whole kitchen but let's face it, my camera only handles good close ups!  I'll keep trying, though!
And speaking of close ups.  Do you see that Pyrex dish sitting up on top of my cupboard?
Come back tomorrow for some close ups of *IT*!  It's my first covered casserole dish from the thrift store and it's the Blue Bird pattern!  Eeek!  I was so thrilled!

Oh My Garland! Oh My Garland!

Oh my garland- Clementine!   I just love a good, corny blog post title- don't you?  ☺  I made this button ball garland for my eldest grand girl when it was *her* turn to visit the other day. I let her choose the balls and buttons.  This is for her (soon to be) new room.    Most of the balls were already done so it was quick and easy to string together.  I am really tired from all the visiting but I want to see my 4 little grandies as much as possible before they move away in a couple weeks.  I imagine I will bury myself in crafting and decorating after they go!

PS  Many are asking how I make my garlands.  I hope to do a tutorial some day but basically I just glue tiny strips of fabric to tiny styro-foam balls!
