Potholder Window Treatment

Hello blog friendies!
Thanks for all your kind words on my hoop project.
I love decorating with you!
It makes it much more fun!

Yesterday, I added more color and fullness to my pot holder valance.

I bought extras from the antique mall and my friend Jane sent me the pretty blue one to add blue to the mix.  Thanks again, Jane!
I hot glued the curly ribbon do-dads from the Dollar Tree onto each nail at the ends.
I'm not sure if they really "fit" or not but I wanted to cover up the nail heads with something.

Someone asked about the pic above the valance and yes,

those are vintage Christmas cards all stuck behind the frame to form a collage.
I keep it up all year- because I can. ☺ I keep my gingers up too because they're just so cute!

I bought several cute, springy things from the Dollar Tree

for my front porch the other day.  So fun!  I'm the first one on my street to start decorating my porch for spring.
I'm wanting to make a spring wreath for the front door.
I'll show you when I'm all done.
It's supposed to wind, rain and snow today
and tomorrow but then warm back up into the 50's.
Yes!  Perfect porch weather again.

I'm really enjoying living in town.

I never thought I'd say that!  Ha!
My heavenly Father always knows just what I need.
I still feel shy and self conscious when I'm out in my yard
or on my porch but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
I'm not used to anyone seeing me when I'm outside.
That probably sounds silly to those of you who are used
to town but for this country girl- it's an adjustment!

Thanks for walking along with me on this new adventure

 by reading and commenting!
It means a lot to me in my all boy world!
*UGH!  This formatting is driving me crazy!*

Hoop Wall Project

Welcome to the adventures of decorating non traditionally!  Hee-hee!  I finally finished my hoop project.  I think!  ☺  I changed the fabric, arrangement and number of hoops soooo many times!  This is NOT a good project if you are a recovering perfectionist and allergic to measuring!  Ha!  But all in all, I'm loving the way my cutie pie dinning room is shaping up!
I already showed you the center hoop with the chenille the other day.  Here's some close ups of the others.
I wrapped each hoop rim with strips of fabric.
I hot glued my yo yos and a button on 2 of them.
But others have little chicks? on them.  ☺  These two hoops are twins.  Don't ask me why.  ☺
I used pearl headed stick pins for my hanging and now the wall is full of pin holes but that's much better than nail holes-right?!  They will be easy to paint over.
This last fabric is my favorite.  I wish I had more of it.

Next on the agenda is to add some pot holders to my window treatment in the kitchen and then I might attempt decorating the living room.  The living room is the guy's room so I'm kind of scared!  ;)
Thanks for joining me on this decorating journey!

Sneak Peek!

Ta-da!  I figured out my photo problem so here's a sneak peek of my hoop project!  Have you ever had a project come together with ease and it turned out just the way you had hoped?  Well this was *NOT* one of those!  Ha-ha!  I hit *SO* many snags and glitches but it's almost finished and I will show you soon!

MIA

Hee-hee!  Here's me and my hubby back in 1981.  I was 8 months pregnant with my first son.

Sorry I haven't posted lately but ever since the computer man hooked up my old printer to my lap top, my camera downloads pics differently and I can't find them!  Well, I found them once and tried to edit them and then they disappeared!  UGH!  I'll keep trying!

I'm almost finished with my hoop project so hopefully I'll be able to show you soon!

Help Me Decorate!

Hello blog friendies!  As mentioned before, I have an embroidery hoop project planned for this empty space above my blue wicker desk.  I'd like to arrange several hoops here in different fabrics but I'm not sure how to move around the open door of the hutch.  I *want to keep it open* to display my table cloth.  Do you think any of my hoops could go behind the door partially or will that confuse the eye?  (I guess some would say my whole decorating scheme is confusing!  Ha-ha!)  I don't want to pound any nails in this nice wall until I'm sure!  Help me decide!

I've made LOTS of yo yos since I posted last!  Eeeks!  They are so cute and so much fun to make and look at once I'm finished!  I have a little pink melamine bowl full of them and I feel so domestic as I sit and stitch in my rocking chair in the dinning room!  If I can figure out how to stitch them together, I will make a little runner for the blue wicker desk!

Try to enjoy your Monday.  This is my Friday so I can have chocolate!  Yippee!

Yo Yos!

Look!  I made some yo yos!  I'm so proud of myself!  Just threading a needle is an amazing feat in itself for me!  Ha!

I had started my embroidery hoop project but then I totally sprained my back so I thought it was as good a time as any to learn how to make yo yos! I could seriously make these all day long if my wimpy wrists would let me!
I used the yo yo maker that Creative Breathing Elizabeth gave me a long time ago!  If you read this, Elizabeth- thank you!
